Security Film

Security film is a strong, transparent polyester (PET) layer applied to glass surfaces—such as windows, doors, and storefronts—to improve safety and resistance to breakage. It bonds tightly to the glass using specialized adhesives, so if the glass is struck or shattered, the film holds the fragments together. This reduces the risk of injury, slows down forced entry, and helps maintain a barrier against impacts from accidents, vandalism, or extreme weather.

Different Types of Security Film

1. Clear Security Film

  • Completely transparent and maintains the original look of the glass

  • Primarily used for safety and breakage resistance without changing appearance

2. Tinted Security Film

  • Adds shading to reduce glare and heat from sunlight

  • Provides both security and improved comfort/energy efficiency

3. Reflective (Mirrored) Security Film

  • Has a reflective exterior that limits visibility from outside during the day

  • Enhances privacy while also strengthening the glass

4. Anti-Shatter / Safety Film

  • Designed mainly to hold glass together upon impact

  • Often used in homes, schools, and offices to reduce injury risk

5. High-Impact / Heavy-Duty Security Film

  • Thicker (e.g., 8–15 mil or more) for stronger protection

  • Used in banks, retail stores, and high-risk areas to resist break-ins

6. Decorative Security Film

  • Includes frosted, patterned, or etched designs

  • Combines aesthetics with basic safety features

7. UV-Blocking Security Film

  • Blocks up to 99% of harmful UV rays

  • Helps protect interiors (furniture, flooring) from fading while adding safety

Overall, security film is a practical and cost-effective solution for reinforcing existing glass, offering a combination of protection, safety, and additional benefits like privacy and energy efficiency.
